Following the news that this year’s Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) has been postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT) has teamed up with Emirates Literature Foundation to launch a series of virtual sessions.

The sessions will showcase artists and authors and aims to open up new creative conversations with readers across the city. They will feature ten internationals speakers from around the world who will all discuss a variety of different themes including everything from history and education to entertainment and science.

Broadcasted live on the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair YouTube channel, the virtual programme has something for all age groups and will run until Monday June 15, meaning you’ve got over a month to enjoy some great free literature content at home.

“Despite the impact of the measures being taken to combat the coronavirus, DCT Abu Dhabi continues to support the emirate’s cultural ecosystem,” said H.E. Abdullah Majed Al Ali, Executive Director of the Dar Al Kutub Sector at DCT Abu Dhabi.

“These fun and informative virtual sessions will strengthen the reputation of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair and ensure that we continue to engage our diverse audience, which includes readers, writers, artists, families and publishing industry professionals. Though we are sadly unable to hold an event this year, using technology in this way keeps the fair’s platform alive and supports our strategic objective to elevate Abu Dhabi as a regional capital of culture and intellectualism.”
