One of the Abu Dhabi’s most popular festivals is returning in March.
Kite Fest has been running since 2016 and takes place on the emirate’s wildlife sanctuary island of Sir Bani Yas Island, which is home to some incredible nature and a range of different animals (including giraffes and cheetahs).
Taking place on Saturday March 2 at the Anantara Resort Sir Bani Yas Island, Kite Fest will kick off at 11am giving families the chance to make their own kites and fly them across the island’s beaches. For your Dhs200 (for adults, Dhs100 for kids aged three to 12), you’ll get access to the beach, a barbecue, live music, beach games, kayaking, pony rides and archery for the kids and more.
But, even if you’re not much of a kite-flier yourself, you can just kick back all day, and enjoy the vibes from what is one of the most naturally stunning parts of the UAE.
If you want to make a weekend of it, however, you can get involved with an overnight camping expedition on the island, which takes place the night before Kite Fest, on Friday March 1. It’s Dhs580 per adult for a night’s camping, plus dinner and breakfast at the campsite – it’s Dhs290 for child aged three to 12.
What better way of getting out and seeing more of the country?
Dhs200 (adults), Dhs100 (kids aged three-12). Sat Mar 2, 11am-5pm. Anantara Resort, Sir Bani Yas Island (02 801 5266).
