Abu Dhabi gets new boat and jet ski slipways

Good news for watersport fans

It’s about to get a whole lot easier to make a splash in Abu Dhabi.

Three new slipways have been opened for boat and jet ski fans in the capital and they’re bound to be a hit.

One of them is under the ‘bridge to nowhere’ landmark – or the suspension bridge to Hudayriat Island as it’s otherwise known.

It’s going to be free for you to load and offload your boats or jet skis.

But you can pay Dhs100 to have an operator do it for you.

You can even dock your boat or jet ski at the site permanently, which will set you back Dhs15,000 a year.

The other two slipways are at Mina Zayed and Abu Dhabi Gate.

Improvement works are still being done on those slipways, but they are open to the public currently.

The scheme is a public-private partnership with Abu Dhabi Municipality.

Hudayriat Island is largely undeveloped at the minute but there are big plans afoot to turn it into a new residential area.
