The Middle East’s only day-night triathlon is taking over Abu Dhabi on February 16 – and there is still time to sign up for TriYas.
Hundreds of athletes are set to flock to Yas Marina Circuit for the eighth annual TriYas by Daman ActiveLife.
The beginner-friendly event – featuring the triathlon disciplines of running, cycling and swimming – will this year include three new brand new activities aimed at first-time triathletes, young champions and short distance sprinters.
For those keen to make a dash, a splash and saddle up for success - there has never been a better time to give it a ‘tri’.
Organisers have secured 400 bikes, available to use free of charge, to registered participants in the race.
For those keen to go the extra mile in pursuit of sporting excellence, there will be an Olympic category featuring a 1,500-metre swim, 38-kilometre bike race and 10-kilometre run, while the shorter sprint category involves a 750-metre swim, 22-kilometre bike course and 5.5 kilometre run.
The kids Tri, open to sporty youngsters aged between nine and 16, will boast a 200-metre swim, 9-kilometre cycle and 1.5 kilometre run, while there will also be a female-only race.
The fun isn’t just confined to the track (or the water) as there will be a host of family-friendly activities taking place at the free-to-attend TriYas village, including live acoustic performances, kids’ activity zones and funky food and beverage stations.
While TriYAS bursts into action on Friday, the final preparation starts the evening before at the traditional race pack collection, race briefing and competitor gathering from 5-8pm. Held at Yas Marina Circuit 15thFebruary, the evening is free to enter for all TriYAS participants, their friends and family.
The event is the perfect chance to stock up on energy-building carbohydrates and to pick up race packs consisting of bibs, numbers, and swimming caps, as well as a free T-shirt and water bottle. Entrants will also receive their wave allocation and a briefing from the race director on course safety, layout and rules for Friday’s big race.
There are still a limited number of tickets available on YMC’s official website to enter the iconic day-night swimming, cycling and running race, which features a diverse field ranging from kids and first timers to an elite line-up of professional triathletes.
