First ever Driver Fit Fitness Festival coming to Abu Dhabi

Debut event will see Dhs10k prize for Abu Dhabi’s fittest person

The first ever Get Driver Fit (GDF) Fitness Festival will be racing out of the starters’ blocks next month – as the build-up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix continues to gather pace.

The free extravaganza, organised by FLASH Entertainment and national health insurance company Daman’s ActiveLife which will take over du Forum on Friday, November 10, will be the finale of the seven-week long Get Driver Fit campaign, an annual part of the Yasalam programme leading up to the F1 roadshow rolling into town.

A whole host of healthy activities will be held on the day and you can pile on the dirhams while shedding pounds by entering the Abu Dhabi’s Fittest Person Competition, with a lucrative Dhs10k prize on offer for the top male and female entrant.

Fun-filled events include the Street Sports Zone – suitable for all ages – and an entertainment zone packed with dance demonstrations and acro yoga, with spot prizes on offer.

Get mind and soul as well as body in peak condition with a dedicated wellness zone, including a series of yoga classes that will harness your inner harmony and educational and inspirationjal presentations and talks. You can also bring along the little ones for some leisure in the Active Kids Zone.

Once you are ready for a refuel after all that exercise, check out the wealth of food and beverage options available at the Yas Island facility.

For when you are ready to pick up the pace, try out the Challenge Zone, which serves up stiff competition for serious athletes and great drama for festival-goers to watch.

The exciting conclusion of the final Get Driver Fit Challenge will take place, with an exotic getaway being given as the grand prize.

FLASH Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Reeva Bains, said: “Over the past four years of the Get Driver Fit programme, we’ve seen the energy grow exponentially from each year to the next. Since the programme started, we have welcomed 7,132 eager participants, a figure that will continue to grow as we move through the schedule this year, and in future years. The GDF Fitness Festival is the ultimate way to bring the UAE community together to celebrate over a weekend of exhilarating activities, showcasing the Capital’s commitment to getting active. FLASH Entertainment is about more than just music and live events – in collaboration with our partner, Daman, we work hard to deliver the Government’s health and education mandate to provide the community opportunities to join us in making waves across the city and improvements to their overall health and wellbeing.”

Dr Sven Rohte, Chief Commercial Officer of Daman, added: “Working once again with FLASH Entertainment, we continue to bring free fitness initiatives to the capital, as we aim to improve the lives of the Abu Dhabi community towards a healthy active lifestyle. The GDF Fitness Festival is everything the programme represents – fitness, fun, community and support, and we encourage residents to join us on Friday, November 10. Those interested in continuing their fitness journey should consider the different free weekly ActiveLife events which take place on weekdays and weekends”
