Everything you need to know about HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championship

One of the biggest sporting events of the year is nearly here, as the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship 2020 gets ready to tee off.

Taking place from January 16 to 19 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the fifteenth edition of the tournament will see some of the biggest names in golf take to the green once again.

Across four days of competition you can see top sportsmen compete for the Falcon Trophy in the first Rolex Series event of the European Tour calendar.

Among those competing this year is defending champion Shane Lowry who will be looking to make it two in a row.

Other big names competing this year include World Number One Brooks Koepka, two-time winner Tommy Fleetwood, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Patrick Cantlay and Haotong Li.

Before the big tournament takes place The Hero Challenge is also set to take place at Yas Marina Circuit, on Tuesday (January 14).

Players from the tournament will be entertaining the crowds by taking turns trying to hit a range of targets spread throughout the Formula One circuit.

Tickets to the event are free and it offers a great chance to see some of the best golfing talent in action before they grace the greens of Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

The Championship begins proper on Thursday January 16 with the fist round from 7.20am until 5.45pm.

The competition will continue on Friday and Saturday before the final round is held on Sunday January 19 from 8am to 4.45pm, where the winner will be presented with the trophy (and wins prize money).

Heading along to the event this year? Day passes for the event start from Dhs50 and there’s lots to do away from watching the golfers in action on the green.

A championship village will feature a range of activities to try, food trucks, live entertainment and more across the tournament.
