Route and prize money announced for Abu Dhabi marathon

Run will start at ADNOC headquarters and tour around the city

Details of the route for the much-anticipated Abu Dhabi Marathon have been revealed.

Taking place on December 7, runners will start the 42.195 kilometer race at the ADNOC headquarters on the Corniche.

After that they will head towards the Emirates Heritage Village, go around Marina Mall, run along King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud street, and then go on to Qasr Al Hosn.

The final stretch of the race will run through Mina Zayed before returning to the Corniche for a spectacular finish.

Organisers have also announced that the fastest male and female runner will each receive $100,000 (Dhs367,325) in prize money.

Second-place runners in the male and female categories will each be rewarded with $25,000 (Dhs91,831), while third-place runners will get $15,000 (Dhs55,100).

Sponsored by Emporio Armani EA7, a $3,150 (Dhs11,570) cash prize will also go to the fastest male and female participant in the wheelchair category.
