We’re always proud to tell people that we live in Abu Dhabi, and now our city is set to receive even more international attention.
The capital is featured in Nike’s new Dream Crazier video campaign, which stars fearless athletes from around the globe.
The segment filmed at Zayed Sports City focuses on five-time UAE figure skating champion Zahra Lari.
Lari is a hugely inspirational figure, and we think she is the perfect person to appear in such a campaign.
As the first figure skater in the world to compete in a hijab, the video sees the athlete talk about her dedication to the sport.
She said: “I cannot imagine my life without sport, I wouldnt be Zahra Lari basically".
She also encourages young girls to get involved with sports and not to give up on their dreams.
"To all of the girls out there, I really encourage you to just not give up," said Lari.
"Growing up, I was always extremely shy. In general, sports, I feel like that's what it does. It really builds you up and it really gives a person the confidence."
She also touches are how she motivates herself to get up at 4.30am to train, and how she hopes to inspire other Emirati women to take up figure skating.
She said: "When I started it was just me, now we have around 100 Emirati ladies doing the sport.
"Being able to go to the Winter Olympics with a group of women, to raise the UAE flag for the first time, that would be my dream."
We're behind her all the way.
