Getting up a bit earlier before work is always a difficult task. But upon encountering the light and cheery vibes of whEAT Bakery and Bistro, we feel like we made the right decision.
It prides itself on serving healthier options, and this is reinforced by the tempting displays of prettily-packaged health foods. However, a quick look at the labels confirms that while the food might be good value, this is expensive place to stock up on your groceries such as chia seeds.
We start with an Americano for a morning caffeine hit. It’s good coffee; smooth, strong but not too bitter, and a hefty size.
Then we move onto possibly the biggest bowl of blueberry bircher muesli we’ve ever seen. Packed with apple, coconut, flaxseeds, nuts, blueberry jam and other natural treats, it’s beyond delicious and incredibly filling.
Oozing with cheese, the turkey ham and cheese croissant actually comes in three mini pastries. It is made even better by the sticky apple chutney and juicy sundried tomatoes in the side salad.
The menu definitely can’t all be classed as healthy, but with huge portions and reasonable prices, a visit will always start your day on a positive note.
The bottom line:
Healthy dishes that won’t break the bank.
