Ushna Restaurant (Abu Dhabi)
Time Out Says
Its contemporary dining room steers clear of any clichéd, traditional décor. The space is bright and airy and its outdoor terrace offers clear views of the Grand Mosque.
The menu features a couple of new dishes and the chaat platter is a promising starter. The piquant pani puri – filled with potato, yoghurt and chutney succeeds in whetting the appetite. Ragda patties, a beloved street eat in Mumbai, features a mildly-spiced potato patty that sits over a mound of curried chickpeas – it is spot on.
If your curry-loving tastebuds can’t handle the heat, the daab chingri, that comes served in a hollowed coconut, is yours to order. Seasoned with mustard seeds that give the mild, creamy coconut curry a tasty zing, it’s a lovely dish, although we would have preferred if the prawn tails had been removed.
Our vegetarian friends will enjoy the paneer lababdaar, seen here, that boasts strong and aromatic flavours.
The service at Ushna is also top-notch. You certainly won’t leave disappointed.
The bottom line
Head over for your next curry night.
