Time Out Says

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010
Sadly, a great view in no way makes up for a total lack of atmosphere, awful lounge music, and below-par food. If it did then Blue Line would surely have more regulars than it does. As it is, the drab ’70s decor and low lighting make the view from this top-floor bar the only thing worth coming here for. While the menu is varied, with everything from prawn cocktails and pizzas to lobster thermidor (clearly some of it siphoned up from Horizons downstairs), it appears as if the dour atmosphere pervades even the cooking.

Nachos arrive in a thick clump, difficult to pry apart, seemingly drizzled in squeezy-tube cheese and the pizzas aren’t a great improvement. Soft serenade music emerges from a singer secreted in some dark corner, who croons away absent-mindedly to prerecorded tapes. The only patrons are a few hotel guests who clearly got lost looking for the exit or who are perhaps afraid to venture outside. At least the lack of customers means that service is efficient; in fact, the waiters appear glad of something to do. The tragedy is, with such a grand view, this bar has plenty of promise. It’s just too bad that it falls short.
