The Beach House
Time Out Says
We’re here for a lazy Friday breakfast, and the outdoor terrace is full of other guests with exactly the same idea.
In front of us is a wooden walkway that leads straight out towards to sea, and our friendly server explains that for Dhs150 we can get a platter of pastries, cakes and breads, yoghurt with avocado and chocolate ‘soil’, fruit, a main course, hot drink and juice.
We’re totally sold, and within minutes our table is filled with croissants, danish pastries, matcha cake, muffins, seeded rolls and more. The homemade granola bar and lime cake go down particularly well, and the colourful fruit bowl includes melon, pineapple, strawberries, passion fruit and berries. It’s all amazing, and we can’t help but nibble a bit of everything.
Next, we try a sweet and savoury main. The huge portion of pancakes is perhaps a bit much after eating so many sweet pastries, but the stack is fluffy, light and topped with plenty of syrup and cream. Meanwhile, the creamy smashed avocado with spicy tomato jam and fresh rocket is faultless. We’re not expecting too much from the gluten-free bread, but it’s very tasty and full of interesting seeds.
This might just be one of our favourite breakfast spreads in the capital.
