Time Out Says

If you’re looking for quality Lebanese food served in a classy setting, Sambusek is surely the place to come.

The staff are friendly and know the menu well, but then that’s perhaps the least you’d expect given the restaurant’s five-star setting. What they do very well, though, is offer advice on your order based on your likes and dislikes. Yes, Abu Dhabi, you read that correctly, staff here actually listen to you.

We recommend coming early evening, grabbing a table on the terrace when the weather is cool and watching the sun go down with a table full of the brilliant hot and cold mezze. There’s also a selection of shisha.

If you haven’t caught onto the chicken livers and pomegranate band wagon yet, this is a good place to jump aboard.

The rich liver contrasts brilliantly with the tart, sweet seeds. You might also have a little trouble staying away from the potato harra – lightly spiced, soft fluffy cubes of starch, what’s not to love? You can find six kinds of sambusek on the menu, including a chicken variation of the little pastries. It’s worth checking out at least one type.

In a city full of Lebanese restaurants, it’s not always easy to get excited about the cuisine, but Sambusek is a real delight.

The bottom line

Top service, food and setting.
