Time Out Says
Winner of the 2011/12 TOAD Best Budget restaurant category and highly commended in the Indian category, Ruchi has a reputation to uphold. Inside, it’s all well-appointed fish tanks, heavy brown curtains and endless upholstered booths – if you’ve been to various Indian restaurants before, you’ll know the drill. Apart from a few random Chinese dishes, the menu is just the right size and features all the usual suspects, with a good selection of meat-free dishes for vegetarians (the paneer is recommended). Starters, however, are a bizarre mix of deep-fried Chinese hybrids, none of which particularly appeal, and you should expect all dishes to be served simultaneously, even if requested otherwise. Portions are pretty generous and food is tasty enough and well spiced. Just watch out for hasty, unexpected additions of potato to dishes that normally do just as well without.
