Two peas in a pod. The dynamic duo. Partners in crime. There’s something about a culinary fusion that makes for such a harmonious blend. When done right, it’s unbeatable. And MouzMari aces it.
It’s an Argentinean steakhouse with an Emirati twist on Al Reem Island that brings the best of both cuisines together, with unexpected flavour combinations that will leave you wanting more.
Step inside the waterfront restaurant, which boasts both indoor and outdoor seating, and you’re greeted with industrial yet minimal décor. Think brick walls and black iron bars bordering Emirati-style domed arches, which are a true focal point. Lush sheer curtains drape across the windows, adjacent to high vaulted ceilings, making for a lovely contrast in texture.
But beyond the insta-worthy ambience, the plates are the stars of the show. Starters range from en salad de quinoa y remolacha, a beetroot salad with smoking balsamic, to alitas de pollo, chicken wings over a bed of hummus. The former is light, fresh and airy, and complete with dressing that is quite literally smoking. It’s one to film.
Now, that reason you’re here: steak. The range on offer will catch your attention, with the tapa de ojo de bife being the first recommendation from the server. It’s a special Argentinian prime cut that is presented in the perfect hue of pink and slightly seasoned. Accompanied with a range of sauces and dips, including chimichurri and peppercorn, diners here personalise every bite. Dainty heritage carrots are sprinkled across the plate with a dash of paprika, making for a colourful dish.
The Solomillo de ternera Angus negro, a black Angus tenderloin, is a slightly fattier option, and just as stellar. Any steak preference you may have, you’ll find it here.
Although portions are generous, sides don’t come with the steaks here. Order an extra papa gratinada, potato gratin Parmesan foam and onion charcoal powder, or calabaza asad gratinada, roasted squash pumpkin, ricotta cheese and beetroot powder. Both are dishes you’ll want seconds of.
And the presentation? A ten out of ten from start to finish.
The little touches do not go unnoticed here. A water top up before you’ve even finished your drink, a new set of cutlery between courses, service with a smile. You can’t fault it.
MouzMari has perfected the power of culinary fusion, but add the attention to details from start to finish, and you’re got yourself a triple threat.
