Miss J Cafe
Time Out Says
From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010There are actually two Miss J’s in the capital, but the Marina Mall café is a poor substitute for the garish, black and white tiled, diner-style hangout in Khalidiya. This central branch opens far earlier and actually has an atmosphere. MTV may play on the suspended TVs, but Miss J’s isn’t as garish as you might fear, even if they do serve French fries with the omelette. The menu offers up a pretty decent selection of crepes, however, only Miss J herself knows why the Scottish edition is served with béchamel sauce – which is about as Scottish as an onion soaked baguette.
There is no real distinct identity to this cheerful café. It does have a dash of the Americano about it, particularly in the selection of doughnuts and waffles on offer, although be warned, the latter takes a good 15 minutes to prepare. There are of course sandwiches and plenty of hot snacks to make this a decent lunchtime option, but for a good, cheapish breakfast, you can’t really go far wrong.
