And it’s not because the staff aren’t good – they are. Our hostess is very personable, cracking jokes and asking questions without being intrusive. Our waiter is also very attentive and, again, friendly.
Really, it’s the food that disappoints. Firstly, we’re quite surprised by the sheer length of the menu, which could be scaled down for a more curated selection. Once we’ve finally settled on our dishes, we realise these portions are made for sharing. Our baby spinach salad with strawberries and goats’ cheese is mammoth, and there are far too many leaves for any real balanced flavours to come through. Meanwhile, our linguine alle vongole is fine, but we’ve had better, which is how we feel about the place in general.
The bottom line
We expected more from this famed establishment.
