Time Out Says
With a beach-side setting, Finz has perfected a chic coastal vibe. The comfortable white chairs and sofas make it feel light and airy, while during the cooler months you can eat outside on a wooden decking area. It feels like we’re away on a seaside retreat, rather than in the centre of a bustling city.
With views of the city’s bright lights dancing across the water, this is an extra-special spot to enjoy some fine dining.
The specialities include toothfish, cataplana, some enormous sharing platters (one very appropriately named the Elaborate), and a daily selection of fish that can be grilled, baked or steamed to your liking.
We start with the pan-seared scallops. Topped with brown butter breadcrumbs and accompanied by an apple and celeriac salad, it is sensational. The cured salmon ceviche comes with a spicy amarillo sauce that is offset perfectly by a squeeze of lime.
For mains, we opt for a classic; a whole sea bass served in a salt crust, de-boned in front of us. The side of grilled vegetables is colourful and tasty and the Tunisian couscous is very moreish. There’s more than enough for two and it proves how a seemingly simple dish can be done very, very well.
The bottom line
Classy seafood in a tranquil setting.
