You might think you’ve been down every culinary avenue at swish steakhouse, 55&5th, The Grill.
After all, the Saadiyat Island spot has been one of the city’s favourite dining destinations for years and remains a perrenial awards contender with the Time Out Abu Dhabi team.
But just when you think you’ve got their number, the talented kitchen team decide to switch up their gastronomic game.
Under the guidance of new executive chef Olivier Belliard, the well-established restaurant has cooked up a revamped menu that is really getting the juices flowing.
One of the show-stopping dishes on offer is the wagyu beef cheeks (pictured above), smothered in beautiful barbecue sauce and served with celeriac mousseline, sesame and glazed vegetables, a terrific treat for the eyes and the taste buds.
It is just one of an array of magnificent main course options, including milk-fed Dutch veal chop and an Australian rib-eye, plus signature starters such as Egg 62˚C, which is served with Alaskan crab, avocado, pecan nuts and veal bacon emulsion, and the imaginative caramelised octopus, paired with black pepper jam, pomelo, onion confit and tarragon.
The restaurant’s chef de cuisine, Ramasawmy Jayada, himself another recent addition, says he loves to marry classic and modern cooking methods in order to take diners on a rich culinary journey. We’d say it is prime time for another visit.
