Have you heard the one about the longest bar in Abu Dhabi? No? You mustn’t have read these pages very closely then.
For about the millionth time, classy bar Stills, in the Crowne Plaza on Yas Island, has the longest bar in Abu Dhabi at a whopping 26m.
Thankfully for the venue, and all of us who go there, it has plenty more to shout about than that.
The bar has always served above-average bar food, indeed it took home a Highly Commended plaque at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Music & Nightlife Awards 2017 for it, but the venue has now had a bit of an overhaul and so has the menu, which aims to put more of the ‘gastro’ into ‘gastropub’.
There are new dishes across the menu, putting a focus on using top-quality ingredients and well-sourced meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.
From starters such as carpaccio using US Prime Certified beef to quinoa sliders, which come with sundried tomato pesto, mature cheddar, mushrooms and pickled cabbage, there’s something new for everyone.
We particularly like the sound, and look, of the crispy sea bass, above. It comes with spinach, buttery potatoes, roasted cherry tomatoes and a creamy foam.
Other main course additions include garlic prawn tacos, lamb chops and a 12-hour wagyu brisket pie with puff pastry crust
(that one also looks fantastic).
The sweet-toothed among you will be happy to hear there’s a new hot chocolate cake, as well as panacotta and a lemon citrus bar on the dessert menu.
It looks like Stills has just upped its game.
