Celebrate Pancake Day in Abu Dhabi

Five fantastic spots to enjoy a taste of tradition

Get ready to ‘flip out’ – as Pancake Day is serving up some tasty fun in Abu Dhabi once again.

You can throw your support behind the culinary tradition – without getting your own frying pan messy – by paying a visit to these brilliant capital eateries this Tuesday.

Whether you want something sweet or savour a savoury treat, or even want a healthy option, there is no chance of Pancake Day falling flat.

So head out on out and enjoy a terrific Tuesday.

It’s all in the name of tradition so it would be rude not to join in the foodie fun, wouldn’t it?

The cool hangout – brought to Abu Dhabi by way of celebrity-laden L.A – will make pancakes the star of the show this Tuesday. A wide variety of flavoursome favourites are on the stacked menu, from trusty butter milk pancakes with berries and fresh cream and icing sugar topped with maple syrup, to extra sweet treats such as Nutella chocolate chip pancakes and red velvet pancakes. It sounds a ‘Berri’ good day to us.
From Dhs40. Open noon-11pm Sun-Wed, noon-midnight Thu-Sat. Al Muneera (02 643 9555).

Café 302
Our Best Café winner at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards will be causing a stir on Pancake Day. Tuck into thick and fluffy pancakes, covered in maple syrup and served with indulgent berry compote, mascarpone cream and fresh berries. The special apple cinnamon pancake will also be served up from 6am until 10.30pm on Tuesday, so there’s no excuse not to enjoy a taste.
Dhs45. Al Maha Arjaan by Rotana, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Street (02 610 6666).

No.Fifty Seven Boutique Café
Feel like heading over to the dark side? Then try on this little black number for size. The activated charcoal pancakes will still manage to brighten up your day. The scrumptious offering features ricotta cheese and activated charcoal and is garnished with fresh blueberries, blackberries (it goes without saying) and homemade cream.
Dhs55. Building Two, Al Marasy, Al Bateen Harbour (02 441 6100).

Tawa Bakery
If you are on a bit of a health kick you don’t have to be a ‘gluten’ for punishment by missing out on the pancake fun altogether. The 100 percent gluten free bakery and café serves up pretty much guilt free buttermilk pancakes, with a choice of honey, maple or chocolate sauce. You can also pile on the pleasure by adding caramelized banana, strawberries and whipped cream or berries, toasted nuts and a sweet Greek yoghurt for an extra Dhs16.
From Dhs26. Open daily 8am-11pm. Al Muneera Beach Plaza, Al Muneera, Al Raha Beach (02 556 6900).

The Sportsman’s Arms
The Boston-style venue cooks up pancakes as part of its bumper breakfast menu throughout the year – but there is no better time to give them a try. You can go for a short stack or a full stack, with a variety of toppings, from the classic maple syrup and mixed berries to a healthy option with fruit compote and honey. If you are not counting the calories, however, why not go throw in some extras, such as beef bacon, Nutella, strawberry jam and sliced avocado for Dhs12.
From Dhs38. Open daily 8am-til late. International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City (02 447 1066).
