Nestled deep in the opulent surrounds of Emirates Palace, this upmarket Lebanese restaurant is, in terms of décor at least, a world away from your average street-corner joint. Think dizzyingly high ceilings, marble pillars and plush silk curtains rather than scruffy surrounds and a rotating spit of meat. In terms of everything else, however, there’s not much you can really improve on. The familiar smell of grape shisha hangs in the air, while the menu is packed with all the standard Lebanese fare, albeit in a slightly more bling incarnation. The cold mezze will no doubt impress, but nothing wows enough to justify the eye-watering prices, and the absence of hot bread with which to mop it up (a standard in any self-respecting Lebanese restaurant) is disappointing. Main dishes are succulent and well-prepared, however, and portions are huge, so if you have a penchant for Lebanese fare and a wad of cash to burn, do stop by – in terms of surroundings, you could do worse.
