Time Out Says

Every so often, a new venue arrives in Abu Dhabi and you instantly know it will be a hit.

Step forward Dahab, a Lebanese restaurant in the Hilton Capital Grand and the latest addition to the capital’s
fine dining scene.

It takes just a matter of minutes for this eatery to make a lasting impression on us – and we feel it has all the ingredients to become a new favourite.

Step inside a dining space dripping with old-school elegance, or make your way to the expansive outdoor terrace that is sure to be one of 2019’s best sundowner spots.

At the waiter’s recommendation, we kick off our meal with the hummus halabi, a subtly spiced dip to be enjoyed with some hot house bread.Meanwhile the baba ghanoush makes for a mouth-watering alternative, with a gorgeous blend of aubergine, tahini and lemon juice making the perfect appetiser for the main event.

The staff are warm and welcoming without being overly fussy – a bugbear of ours that can put a dampener on even the best meals.

Dahab’s interior oozes character, with gold frame-adorned walls, lines of stylish dining tables and chairs and a stage at the back for regular live entertainment nights.

Back to the food, and we get stuck into our mains. First up, we have the delicious beef filet, a beautifully tender piece of meat served with grilled vegetables and some of the most sumptuous pepper sauce we’ve ever encountered.

Seriously, this stuff is worth the visit alone.

The farouj Dahab comes next, and we are thoroughly impressed by the grilled chicken with light spices, served with roasted pepper, onion and garlic paste.

With most new restaurants, there are often teething problems, an oversight that needs to be addressed or an adjustment that has to be made. But with Dahab, we’re struggling to find any fault. You could tell us this vibrant venue is a ten-year veteran and we’d believe you.

Great staff, amazing food, gorgeous venue and reasonable prices. We can’t wait to see what the new year brings to this excellent eatery.
