Time Out Says
Café Artea is busy with families, friends and couples when we visit the Al Seef branch on a Saturday lunchtime.
As expected, there’s an extensive selection of hot and cold coffees (iced vanilla cappuccinos, Arabic and Turkish coffees are all on there), but we’re a bit dissappointed to learn that the all-day dining options aren’t being served.
So we decide to go for a chicken Ceaser salad, cheese croissant and an Americano coffee (although the fluffy animals on the top of our neighbours’ coffees do look well worth the additonal Dhs5).
The salad is topped with a generous portion of grilled chicken and served in a deep wooden bowl. We presume that the four wedges of lemon on the side are just for decoration, but the sharp juice offsets the creamy dressing and grated parmesan cheese perfectly. It’s a brilliant take on the classic salad.
Meanwhile, the fresh croissant is huge and wonderfully soft on the inside, and the coffee is strong and delicious.
The menu is relatively small, but everything we try is superb.
We’re excited to return and try out one of the milk cakes (we’ve got our eyes on the lavender one).
