Byblos Sur Mer
Time Out Says
The menu is just as impressive as the setting, offering a wide variety of traditional Lebanese dishes at affordable prices.
For starters, the tabbouleh is fresh and there is plenty enough to share, while the hummus is deliciously creamy and we enjoy copious amounts with freshly baked bread.
We switch gears to some hot mezze, where the jwaneh is the standout. The chicken wings are succulent and flavoured with coriander, garlic and lime. It’s the kind of dish you could easily order a second round of. If you love fried potatoes, make sure you order the batata jabaliyeh – little cubes of spud cooked with green chilli and coriander that are full of flavour, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
In a city where you get shish taouk on every corner, the version here is as good as it comes. And it isn’t padded out with too much bread or fries, which you might find elsewhere.
Byblos Sur Mer’s chefs have perfected traditional Lebanese cuisine, which is why it remains our top choice in the city.
The bottom line
Excellent food in elegant surroundings
