Time Out Says

The French theme is laid on thick at Brasserie, with a magnificent chandelier separating the café from Barocco restaurant. The decor seems to be an attempt to recreate 17th century France, and while it may be bombastic, it’s also fun to experience and the service is delightful. Not all of the menu carries on the French theme, as you’ll find with the standout mezze, which is plentiful and flavourful. Presentation is excellent at Brasserie, but the quality of the execution isn’t always consistent. Another nice taste of France is a round disc of Echire beurre – a butter exclusive to a tiny village in the west of the country – served alongside sweet brioche. It’s a bit hit and miss, but there are enough highlights on the menu to make a visit worthwhile.
