Time Out Says
Bentley Kitchen, if you haven’t been, is one of those rare places that pretty much gurantees a bustling dining room (and terrace). Formerly Bentley Bistro & Bar, it had a slight revamp at the end of 2017 after losing some of its space to new neighbour Eat Greek Kouzina. The change makes for a cosier room and gave the kitchen a chance to freshen up the menu.
We’ve always been fans of the steaks and grills here, and are happy to see they still play a big part on the menu. They’re joined by some more on-trend additions such as bao, tacos and sliders.
However, our choices don’t stray too far from the tried and tested meaty options, with starters of wagyu beef cheek croquette and steak tartare being followed up by two good-value steaks (a grass-fed fillet from New Zealand and a grain-fed rib-eye from the USA).
All the dishes look great. There’s nothing too fancy going on, but then food like this doesn’t need any fripperies to taste good.
The crispy and rich croquettes are superb, as is the tartare, which makes perfect use of the seasoning and condiments it comes with.
Both steaks are super value considering the prices at similar places. Of course, the meat has to be good, too, and we can happily big both of them up. On the side, creamy mash hits the spot, and the crisp, fluffy fries are perfect to dip into a cracking béarnaise sauce.
Atmosphere, top service and great food. This meal has it all. It’s been a while since we’ve enjoyed eating out this much.
