Time Out Says
When you’re sat out on the terrace, looking out at the shiny yachts in the marina, Brussels isn’t likely to be the first destination that springs to mind.
But Belgian Café is a reliable recreation of the European country’s cuisine and beverages. One that consistently serves up a satisfying experience. There are branches around the city, but this one at the InterContinental is the most scenic.
Once settled at your seat, you’ll find a very tempting menu. But one dish here not to be missed is the mussels; choose a sauce from the likes of garlic cream and Thai curry, then enjoy a pot of perfection.
There are more substantial dishes, including a hearty, rich stew and a grilled salmon with a moreish mustard-herb marinade. An indulgent burger is worth checking out, too, paired with a generous helping of chips and mayonnaise.
One of the only slight let-downs here, on this occasion, is the service, which seems to get stretched in what is a very busy bar.
But the lovely setting, with such a relaxed vibe, and the excellent food, combined with the wide choice of beverages, all adds up to make this an experience that is hard not to enjoy.
The bottom line
Enjoy hearty food in a relaxing location.
