Colourful cafe delivering great pasta but not much else

Time Out Says

Operating just on the edge of the noisy Salaam Street, this little find deserves to be far busier than it is. It’s not that the food is particularly great, but there are at least a couple of things that it does better than others. The menu is one of those jack of all trades affairs, offering everything from sandwiches and soups right up to bigger plates of steaks, pizzas and pasta (curiously enough, for a venue littered with faux-European imagery, there’s not a cake or pastry in sight).

The pasta is the highlight, in particular the salmon fettuccine, which arrives steeped in a creamy parmesan sauce that’s deliciously rich but not quite overbearing. The burger isn’t bad either, but order anything cleverer and it’s likely you’ll end up regretting it. The drinks are a little on the pricey side – if you thought Dhs23 orange juice didn’t exist outside of hotels, they’ll happily prove you wrong – but otherwise this is decent value spot with some competent lunchtime fare.
