Cut-price, quality curry comes to the Souk at Central Market
Time Out Says
No restaurant in Abu Dhabi garners enough success to warrant a third branch without the help of a loyal following, and this Indian micro-chain – whose latest outlet pulls a busy crowd even at lunchtime – has fans in spades. The menu may be slightly eccentric (we can’t imagine they get many orders for their pasta, sandwiches or Chinese food) but the Indian grub is more than solid, and excellent value. The aromatic, meaty mutton biryani makes a great value lunch at just Dhs20 – especially when drizzled with a spot of cooling cucumber raita – and they do a thoroughly decent butter chicken. Naan bread is less successful, arriving so greasy and crisp that it’s barely fit for the task of soaking up excess sauces. The small dining room has its imperfections too, feeling a tad cramped and often with dirty tablecloths, sporting grubby stains from energetic feasts of yore. Still, Abu Dhabi’s curry fans have spoken, and their verdict is a resounding thumbs up. As far as the food goes, chances are you’ll agree with them.
