Review: A seafood restaurant with great views and a lounge vibe

Time Out Says

Aquarium sits in a prime spot at Yas Marina. Head there in the cooler months and you can make the most of the terrace, which boasts views across the water and of the resplendent Yas Viceroy.

That vista is a major draw, but you get the full Aquarium experience when sat inside during the summer – literally. The restaurant’s back wall is lined with tanks of mesmorising, brightly-coloured fish.

The menu is, naturally, ocean based, too. There’s plenty of sushi, seafood and even a fish market-style display, if you’re in the mood to pick your catch.

The salmon and prawn citrus salad is fresh and tasty. We like the segments of juicy, sweet orange and the citrus dressing is tangy and light. However, the warm chunks of seared salmon are a little on the dry side.

We also try the seafood paella. It is well-flavoured and not stodgy, and contains plenty of seafood.

The moody décor creates a loungey vibe, but we can’t help feeling that Aquarium relies on its location a bit too much, and the food standard doesn’t quite keep up.

If you like the idea of dining in an aquarium you won’t be disappointed by the experience. But you won’t be wowed, either.

The bottom line

Great location, but average food.
