But while the flamboyant presentation can make for an unforgettable night out, sometimes you just want to tuck into a tasty meal without feeling the need for an instruction manual before you deconstruct the plate in front of you.
So a night out at Angar will make those of you keen on a more traditional taste of India happy. The menu is extensive and includes a healthy selection of vegeterian choices.
Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, immediately making you feel at home. We start off with a punjabi samosa chaat, which is colourfully presented and mixes refreshing yoghurt with the crispy texture of the savoury pasty.
The vibrant flavours leave our taste buds tingling and make us hungry for more. The main course of lamb vindaloo packs a hefty kick, with the soft and tender meat beautifully complemented by a rich curry sauce. We happily mop it up with a tasty chilli-garlic naan bread. The food is fantastic and is backed by a unique setting at the capital’s glittering Yas Viceroy. Sit outside and you can enjoy the soothing sounds of tinkling fountains, as well as the roar of engines as super-powered cars tear around the Yas Island Formula One track the restaurant overlooks. For anyone who loves fast cars as much as spicy food, Angar is an undoubted front-runner among Abu Dhabi’s grid of Indian eateries.
