Time Out Says
A lot has happened since we crowned Tamba Abu Dhabi’s Best Indian restaurant in our restaurant awards last year.
The capital has welcomed a string of new Indian eateries, including the stylish casual joint MYNT and the more high-end Namak, with both determined to claim their place at the city’s top table of fine dining.
So when we pay our latest visit to our reigning champion, we’re pleased to see it’s not resting on its laurels.
We get things underway with the chicken 65, deep-fried chicken served with a spicy yoghurt sauce on a red cabbage leaf.
The mouth-watering dish is served sizzling in a cast-iron pan, adding a touch of theatrics to a thoroughly enjoyable starter.
For our main, we swap land for sea and dive in to the tiger prawns with coconut and mirchi.
What it lacks in portion size, it makes up for in flavour, with a delicious sauce made up of a blend of fiery spices and just the right amount of coconut to cool things down.
We mop up the remainder of the sauce with some naan as we peruse the dessert options.
The Sticky Situation comes highly recommended by the attentive, but not overly pestering, staff. It’s a gorgeous blend of banana toffee cake, pecan nut praline and cardamom ice cream.
You can always be sure of top service and delicious bites at this innovative eatery, and that’s exactly why it remains a firm favourite.
