Could the world's best chef be coming to Abu Dhabi?

Massimo Bottura says he wants to open a restaurant in the capital

Could the world's best chef be coming to Abu Dhabi?

Chef Massimo Bottura revolutionised Italian cooking with his restaurant Osteria Francescana in Modena.

It's the current number one restaurant in the world, according to the San Pellegrino list, having also won the title in 2016.

This year, the artistic chef has opened Torno Subito in W Dubai - The Palm hotel.

It's the first time he's branched out of his native Italy but it seems he's already thinking to the future and planning to expand his culinary empire.

A brand-new Italian restaurant is coming to Dubai – and it looks set to be a great one.

While Osteria Francescana has gained three Michelin stars for it's incredible versions of Italian classics, the new offering is a kitsch retro affair, with nods to 1960s Italy.

That's not to say it's not artistic, one dish - called Beautiful Psychedelic Veal - is modelled on a Damien Hirst painting.

Speaking to U.S. foodie website Eater about the launch, Bottura says he hopes the Torno Subito brand can be expanded elsewhere.

He told the site's Monica Burton: “We are opening a totally new thing, a new concept, that maybe can be replicated in Abu Dhabi or in Riyadh or in Beirut."

We have to admit being a little excited at the prospect.

If you're reading Massimo, we'd love you to come.
