We’re used to living a luxurious lifestyle here in Abu Dhabi, but we’ve still got a massive thing for tasty street food-style bites.
So our stomachs started rumbling as soon as we saw the new From the Alleyways of Szechuan menu at Dai Pai Dong.

The cool Chinese restaurant is serving up its selection of vibrant and flavour-filled Szechuan cuisine until the end of April. So you have just more than a month to get yourself over there to try it.

Head chef He Jia has chosen ten of the most popular plates from the famous southwestern province of China, which is known for its bold flavours and fondness for fish and beef dishes.

If you’ve got a thing for spice, then you’ll adore the fiery spices in the poached chilli beef and also the sautéed chilli beef.

Or if you prefer your meaty plates to be on the milder side, there’s also sliced beef ribeye and two authentic chicken dishes.

Seafood lovers are also well catered for as the wok-fried chilli prawns are full of fresh flavours and crunchy vegetables. The fact it’s presented in a traditional clay pot makes it all the more special, and it’s one of those dishes that you simply have to photograph before you dig in (nobody around you will be judging, honest).

Vegetarians haven’t been left out either, as there’s a whole range of meat-free dishes such as wok-fried cauliflower to dig into.

If you’re looking to eat less meat but still want interesting dishes that will leave you feeling entirely satisfied, these specialities certainly tick all the boxes.

And if you’re yet to experience the classy and impressive dining room at this authentic restaurant, now is the perfect time to do so.

There are Chinese artefacts dotted around, comfortable leather booths and attention-grabbing works of art adorning the walls. It’s also quite hard to miss the huge dragon guarding the door.

Dishes on the special menu start at Dhs48, so it’s suitable for most budgets.
