Abu Dhabi spot Market Kitchen gets brilliant new menu

Every time we enter the classy dining room at Market Kitchen, we instantly feel like everything is right with the world.

Whether we’re tearing into the brioche-style garlic bread or working through a pot of truffle-infused mac ‘n’ cheese, we’re always happy.

So when we heard that the restaurant had a new menu, as well as a new chef and manager, we knew we had to check it out straight away.

Head chef Jhon Faver Martinez has come in and created a Mediterranean-influenced menu that features simple but effective dishes such as grilled meats and seafood.

Created with fresh ingredients of the highest possible quality, the plates are full of interesting flavour combinations.

If you’re looking for a meal that won’t leave you bursting out of your jeans, there are plenty of options.

The red snapper ceviche with jalapeño leche de tigre and toasted quinoa is a light and healthy option that will delight all seafood fans, while the charred kale pizza with taleggio cheese and kale pesto is a great choice for vegetarians or anyone looking to get some more greens into their diet.

Or, if you’re really not in the mood for calorie counting and just want pure comfort food, the barbecued chicken mac ‘n’ cheese with smoked fontina cheese is one big bowl of creamy indulgence.

Meanwhile, meat lovers will be left totally satisfied by the braised lamb shank. Accompanied by roasted aubergine, herb chimichurri yoghurt and crispy shallots, you’ll be wishing it was in any way acceptable to lick your plate clean (if you do so while no one’s looking, we won’t tell on you).

We were also delighted to note that the sweet options look just as good as the savoury; in fact, they might be even better. You can finish off your evening of wonderful indulgence with a beautiful fruity pavlova with vanilla cream, or some equally taste bud-tantalising poached plums with chocolate.

We’re practically salivating at the thought.

Prices vary. Open Sun-Thu noon-4pm & 7pm-11pm, Fri-Sat 7pm-midnight. Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa Street (800 101 101).
