Enjoying almost LUDICROUSLY huge buffet brunches is a key part of the wonderful life we lead here in the capital.

Whether you’re looking to show off the best of the city to a visitor, have a birthday on the horizon or just fancy celebrating the fact that it’s Friday (because why do we even need an excuse?), there’s nothing like indulging in an afternoon of feasting at an Abu Dhabi brunch.

We have so many to choose from, too. From eateries that offer fine-dining style dishes delivered straight to your table, to sky-high restaurants with incredible views of the city, we have it all. Choosing the best International Brunch was therefore a tricky process. But when it came to the setting, food, entertainment and general vibe, we had to conclude that the Epicurean Brunch at Oléa was the ultimate winner.

From the moment you descend the spiral staircase at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, everything about this event is impressive. You’ll be greated at the door by the largest plank of canapés you’ve ever seen, before you choose whether to dine outside with a view of the bright blue waters of the Gulf, or inside in the stylish dining room.

Entertainment is provided by a live band playing a selection of funky tunes, while the atmosphere is guaranteed to be buzzing as everyone makes the most of the glorious spread on offer.

Grape, water and soft drinks are served to your table while the mixed-drink and hop stations are dotted around the room. With coffee-based drinks, juniper beverages, mint and lime mixed drinks and more, working through the full selection provides lots of brilliant entertainment before you even move on to look at the food.

You’ll find all your favourite cuisines here (plus much, much more). The spread is so enormous that it’s split across several rooms, with the cheese room being one of the most incredible sights we’ve ever had the joy of witnessing.

Outside the light and airy dining room there’s also a beautiful selection of fresh sushi, a foie grais station and some wonderfully prepared roast meats.

The starters include hot and cold Arabic mezze, burrata cheese and juicy Italian tomatoes, and countless interesting salads and freshly-baked breads.

The Asian street food station is one of our favourites. Aside from the tasty nibbles such as dim sum and spring rolls, the colourful laksa soup is an explosion of incredible flavours. Filled with noodles, eggs, vegetables,  seafood and creamy coconut milk, it’s certainly not the kind of delight you’d find at any old brunch.

Elswhere, the braised beef is enough to make any meat lover go wild, while the barbecued seafood, such as huge king prawns, are brought to the tables by the chefs.

The sides, such as the aromatic rice and grilled vegetables, compliment the meat, fish and vegetarians specialities perfectly. The mini beef sliders and spicy Mexican tacos are fun, perfectly presented, and not to be missed.

Saving room for dessert has never been more essential. The spread of homemade cheesecakes, doughnuts, pastries and hot puddings can be quite overwhelming and you’ll need to try a range of goodies.
It’s all absolutely delicious and so worth the calories (it’s just best not to think about that part). The Epicurean Brunch can’t be beaten.
