Abu Dhabi Restaurant Week: Byblos Sur Mer

We know that going out to restaurants is one of the main hobbies of everyone here in Abu Dhabi.

A big reason for that is due to the sheer number of incredible places to eat in the capital.

Well, the dining scene just got that little bit more exciting thanks to the introduction of Abu Dhabi Restaurant Week powered by Time Out Abu Dhabi.

It’s part of Abu Dhabi Food Festival, one of the capital’s most popular annual events.

Between December 6 and 15, some of the city’s finest eateries will be offering special set menus, giving foodies the chance to sample some of the best food around for either Dhs99, Dhs149 or Dhs199.

The bumper list of capital favourites includes the stylish Byblos Sur Mer.

This glamourous eatery at the Intercontinental Abu Dhabi serves a wide variety of Middle Eastern dishes.

For Restaurant Week it is offering a set menu featuring mezze starters, including fattoush salad and ajami, main courses like mwaradeh and makanek, plus a selection of traditional desserts. You can choose one option from each course. 

First course 

Fattoush salad - oriental vegetable salad, sumac bread, walnut and molasses
Tabouleh - mixed parsley, tomato, mint, onion and olive oil with fine burghul
Halabi bil chatta - chickpea puree, spicy tomato and pepper salsa, pine nuts
Ajami – aubergine puree, fried aubergine, molasses and walnut
Labneh phoenician - mixed with tomato, olive, green onion olive and basil
Tabliyeh - selection of raw meat tartar

Second course

Mwaradeh – open kebbeh with minced meat, vegetables and molasses
Kasbeth w rouman -  pan-fried chicken liver with pomegranate molasses
Makanek - lamb sausage, oriental spices and lime
Machawi mechakalah – mixed grill platter with taouk, lamb tikka, kofta, lamb chops and arayees

Third course

Mouhalabiya bil karaz – cherry-flavoured milk pudding, ashta, cherry and marshmallows
Aiysh al saraya – rosewater-flavoured bread, cream and ashta topped with honey and nuts
Levant fawakeh -  sliced fresh fruits
