Global jazz band set for Abu Dhabi gig

Talented trio INSULA brought to the capital by Alliance Francaise

Capital culture spot Alliance Francais is really jazzing up the start to the week – with a hotly-awaited live concert from globe-trotting musical trio INSULA.

The French outfit, fresh off a world tour taking in Latin America and Europe, will be performing two all-new tracks based on Emirati rhythms at their Monday musical date at Abu Dhabi Theater, which has been organised by Alliance Francaise with support from the cultural department of the French Embassy in the UAE and the Institut Francais.

The eclectic band have wowed fans all over the world with their vibrant blend of Caribbean jazz and Arabian-Andalusian sounds.

The innovative group bring together original sounds – bringing the traditional and the modern – using instruments such as the Arabian lute and the piano.

The concert is all part of the flourishing friendship between the UAE and France, cementing the year of the Emirati-French Cultural Dialogue, which was sparked by the opening of the Louvre Abu Dhabi in Saadiyat Island.
