Winner of back-to-back Time Out awards thanks to its incredible ladies’ night, Rush makes sure all clubbers of the capital are catered for. It hosts Arabic nights, as well as evenings dedicated to the latest club bangers. R&B fans are also catered for on a Wednesday night as Cliff Townley spins some top tunes. Another thing Rush does well is its varied spaces throughout the venue, with plenty of tables, booths and a large dancefloor to keep every partygoer happy.
Open Thu, Fri, Sat and Mon 10pm-3.30am. Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi (02 656 0060).
This downtown club has been drawing in the crowds for years. Set in Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi on the Corniche, this hangout is both intimate and spacious at the same time. You’ll find some great DJs playing here, including Saif and Sound, while Sax also hosts a Balkan night for the capital’s Eastern European crew. Clubbers will find a good amount of room to dance, as regulars prop up the bar.
Open Mon-Sat 9pm-3.30am. Closed Tue and Sun. Le Royal Méridien Abu Dhabi, Al Markaziyah, www.starwoodhotels.com (02 674 1286).
Just down the road from Sax, Legends was rebranded over a year ago and saw the likes of Paris Hilton and Craig David walk the red carpet to get the party started. The venue is certainly spacious and caters to both chart-loving clubbers and Arabic beat fans. It has also put on a few Bollywood nights for the desi crowd. The sound system here is powerful, meaning those thumping basslines will shake you to the core, which isn’t a bad thing, if you ask us.
Open daily 9pm-3.30am. Sheraton Abu Dhabi, Corniche East (050 720 4206).
Probably the smallest venue in the capital, Cinnabar still packs a punch when it comes to its club nights. The central area is dedicated to those who love to dance, while tables, booths and bar stools provide a border. At one end stands the bar, where the service is pretty good, and at the other end is the DJ booth. And when we said this place packs a punch, thanks to its sound system it does, as it really is one of the best in the city.
Open Mon-Sat 10pm-2.30am. Hilton Abu Dhabi, Al Khubeirah, www.abudhabi.hilton.com (02 681 1900).
5 MAD Yas Island
Our Club of the Year at the recent Time Out Abu Dhabi Nightlife Awards provides, without a shadow of a doubt, a night to remember. The combination of a booming sound system, awesome DJs and lighting visuals means MAD has to be visited at least once. But we warn you: you’ll want to go back. The visuals that wrap around the upper walls are awesome and provide more lighting effects to the already impressive lasers and smoke machines. MAD has had several celebrity acts and we are sure there will be more as the season progresses. Need we say more?
Open Thu, Fri and Sun 11pm-4am. Yas Island (055 834 6262).
6 Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE
Guest DJs, hardcore partygoers and elite service make Blue Marlin another incredible place to be. It gathers crowds from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai and the beach-front location is the club’s USP, as guests get to take a dip while dancing. Pretty cool if you ask us.
Open Fri-Sat 1pm-11pm. Ghantoot (056 113 3400).
7 Yacht Club
This venue pumps out the deep house tunes, as well as club classics, in a funky setting. Cosy booths and barstools at tables surround the dancefloor, while the staff mill around delivering drinks without you even noticing – very slick. This club is always busy on ladies’ night, so don’t be surprised if you have to queue to get in.
Open Sun-Tues 5pm-1am, Wed-Thu 5pm-3.30am, Fri noon-4pm and 7pm-2.30am, Sat closed. InterContinental Abu Dhabi, Al Bateen (02 666 6888).
8 Saadiyat Beach Club
Okay, this may not be a dedicated club, but De La Costa at Saadiyat Beach Club often hosts huge outdoor parties, which always impress. So much so, we gave them an award for it. This place has great sound and stunning décor that is bound to make anyone feel like they are at one of the most chic spots in town.
Open Sun-Wed 5pm-midnight; Thu 5pm-2am; Fri noon-2am; Sat noon-midnight. Saadiyat Beach Club, www.saadiyatbeachclub.ae (02 656 3500).
Not heard of this one? Thought so. This is going to be the newest addition to the scene when it opens in late September. Located in the Hilton Capital Grand, the venue will hold 350 people inside, but will also have an outdoor area with room for 600. We are told there will be celebrity appearances and when we were given a sneek preview recently, well, let’s just say the lights and visuals in this place will be epic. Keep an eye out for more details and an official opening. party at www.hysteriaclub.ae.
