Days will be shorter to beat the heat

UAE Public school hours announced for summer

Let's face it - as much as we all love lots of things about Abu Dhabi, the scorching summer temperatures can be tough.

And it's even tougher on little ones, who can get seriously exhausted by the hot weather.

To combat fatigue, the Ministry of Education has announced revised school hours for the UAE's public schools.

Over the summer there will be no morning assemblies and class periods have been shorted from 45 minutes to 40. It means the day will be around one hour shorter than usual.

The new timings are already in place and will run throughout June and July.

When it comes to kindergarten, pupils will start school at 8am and finish at 11.45 am.

Boys in primary school will start at 7.15am and their last lesson will finish at 12.37pm. In secondary school, the day will start at 7.15am and finish at 1.20pm.

Girls in primary school will start their day at 8am and finish at 1.22pm, secondary school will start at 8am and finish at 2.05pm
