Work has begun on Abu Dhabi’s newest residential development.

Jubail Island, situated between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island, has appointed Gulf Contractors Company to carry out the Dhs5bn project.

A total of 800 residential properties will be built at the location in six zone villages – Marafaa Al Jubail, Nad Al Dhabi, Seef Al Jubail, Ain Al Maha, Souk Al Jubail and Bed’a Al Jubail.

The project is also set to benefit the local environment with the planting of new mangrove forests, adding a canal network and creating habitats for migratory birds, fish populations, sea turtles, and gazelles.

It's set to be completed by 2022 and will be home to 6,000 people.
