You can help inspire people in Abu Dhabi this weekend

Before the sun rises over the city this weekend, people will be gathering on Abu Dhabi Corniche to take part in an inspirational event.

The Darkness Into Light walk will take place on May 11 where thousands of people in the capital, in the UAE and across the world will gather to raise awareness about mental health issues.

Starting at Emirates Palace at 3.45am, the five-kilometre walk will see participants share a message of hope and support to people in the UAE and around the globe.

Held in partnership with Al Jalila Foundation, the event will also be held in Al Ain starting at Green Mubazzarah Park.

Last year as many as 1,184 people took part in the event and Dhs166,817 was raised for charity.

The walk is open to all and you can register online, or on the day.

Entry is Dhs110 for adults and Dhs20 for children aged six to 17.
