When it comes to shopping, we don't think anyone in the world does it quite like us here in Abu Dhabi.
Malls are part of the backbone of life in the UAE, not only providing places to shop, but also entertainment, food and drinks and places for kids to play.
But one thing's for sure - they certainly take a lot of energy to keep going all year round.
Well, one mall is about to buck that trend, by becoming the emirate's first sustainable shopping destination.
My City Centre Masdar will have more than 70 stores across 18,500 sq m of space, and it's set to open on April 24.
Not only is it Majid Al Futtaim's first foray into the capital, but the Dhs300m development is also going to be as green as possible, fitting in perfectly with the forward-thinking Masdar City project.
You'll be able to get to it by electric bus, and there will also be 18 electric car charging points at the mall. Bosses are also encouraging car-sharing.
Speaking last month, Ghaith Shocair, chief executive officer of Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties, said: "As we progress on developing our first mall in Abu Dhabi, My City Centre Masdar underscores Majid Al Futtaim’s commitment to the capital’s retail sector in line with Masdar City and the UAE’s long-term sustainability goals.
“My City Centre Masdar demonstrates the delivery of our strategy to create retail destinations that address the specific needs of the communities we serve, while underscoring Majid Al Futtaim’s sustainability focus by engaging with them to promote an eco-friendlier lifestyle."
Like any decent mall, there’ll be a tonne of leisure facilities and plenty of places to refuel with some good grub once you can take no more traipsing around the shops.
We'll see you in the aisles.
