Abu Dhabi is one of the safest cities in the world

The UAE capital also scored well for friendliness in Time Out's global survey

Abu Dhabi is one of the safest cities in the world

We all know that Abu Dhabi is many different things to many different people.

But did you know that the UAE capital is also a haven for dairy-free diners?

Earlier this year we asked you to complete our Time Out Index questionnaire -and we thank you all for taking the time to do it.

Hundreds of you told us what you think about life in Abu Dhabi, the city's food, nightlife and arts scenes and what you love about living here.

You joined 34,000 Time Out readers in cities around the globe and helped rank the UAE capital second in the world when it comes to safety (after Singpore),  fifth in the world when it comes to progress - that is, places that have improved since you moved here - and the place with the most dairy-free people.

We're also living in a super-sociable place, according to you, with the majority of you saying you have made new friends in the past month and meet up with your pals at least once a week to socialise.

Our experts have verified the all data and crunched the numbers, and it turns out that the best city in the world right now is New York. The ranking was based on ten factors such as food, drink, culture, music, nightlife,  affordability, beauty, and attractiveness to visitors.

Whatever the inhabitants of New York think, we believe Abu Dhabi is number one, and we have the attractions to prove it.
