Etisalat users in Abu Dhabi got a surprising message in their inboxes this week.
An SMS was sent to customers offering 1GB of full-speed data per day for Dhs1.
Okay, there's VAT on top of that, but five percent of Dhs1 isn't going to break the bank.
Users can sign up for the offer by dialling *101*11#.
By doing that, you get 1GB of data to use within a day, it will renew automatically after 24 hours.
So, if you're the kind of person who likes to stay updated on the go, then this could be the deal for you, and effectively it means you can get 30GB of data per month for Dhs30, making it the provider's cheapest data deal.
To put it into perspective, 1GB of data would let you browse approximately 3,000 web pages, send 1.5 million WhatsApp messages or upload 4,000 photos to Facebook.
Etisalat, the UAE’s biggest telecoms operator is setting up 600 5G towers to provide overage to its customers throughout the region.
Also known as the fifth generation wireless network, 5G will be able to reach speeds around 4.5Gbps, while the current 4G network can go at around 600Mbps.
How much faster can it get?
