Sam Smith fans urged to avoid repeat of The Weeknd crowd problems

Music fans are being urged to get to tonight's Sam Smith concert early to avoid a repeat of the crowd problems which hit The Weeknd's gig on Friday night.

Saturday night sees the Stay With Me hitmaker take to the stage for the third Yasalam post-race concert over the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.

And organisers are urging fans to get to the gig as early as they can after hundreds of fans were left unable to get in to last night's big show.

They say the gates were shut to keep fans out for safety reasons.

Organisers FLASH Entertainment said in a statement today: "To ensure smooth and safe access to tonight's concert, we would like to remind concert-goers that doors open at 6pm.

"Please arrive early to enjoy the Village artists and activities."

Grammy Award winner Sam has the honour of preparing the city for tomorrow's big race with a mega concert at du Arena tonight.

Tomorrow brings the main event, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which starts at 5.10pm.

Later, rock legends Guns 'N' Roses will perform the fourth and final Yasalam post-race concert in what is sure to be an unforgettable night.
