UAE announces public holiday for the 47th National Day

The UAE Cabinet has announced the public holidays for the country's National Day celebrations.

The 47th UAE National Day will fall on Sunday, December 2.

On Friday evening it was announced the public and private sectors will be given December 2 and 3 off as holidays.

National Day marks the date that the UAE was originally formed, back in 1971.

There are always loads of celebrations around the country, including fireworks, traditional dances and other events.

It's a time of year when Abu Dhabi's houses, public buildings and cars are decorated with the national flag and images of the country's leaders.

November 30, which is Commemoration Day (formerly known as Martyrs Day) is usually a public holiday as well, but no announcements have been made about that day by the UAE Cabinet yet.
