The Abu Dhabi desert and the UAE is no stranger to the big screen.

Many films have shot here in the UAE over the years including Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Furious 7, 6 Underground and even Sonic The Hedgehog.

Now another Hollywood blockbuster has given us another glimpse of Abu Dhabi on screen.

Dune, a remake of the 1984 sci-fi classic and based on the book by Frank Herbert, shot scenes in Abu Dhabi last year to double as the desert planet of Arrakis.

Shots of sweeping dunes and desert feature in the official trailer released this week.

Scenes were also filmed in Wadi Rum in Jordan.

The film, set to be released on December 18 2020, has a star studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa and is directed by Denis Villeneuve.

We can’t wait to see Abu Dhabi on the silver screen in December.
