Time Out Says
If you’ve ever wondered what it was like to stay in a luxurious palace, you’ll want to spend a few nights at the Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat al Beri, Abu Dhabi. Its magnificent entrance, along with the hugely inviting infinity pool, is enough to tell you that you’re in for an extravagant experience. The welcome you’ll receive is warm and friendly, too.
The hotel’s 213 rooms feature a balcony or terrace that offer enchanting views of the traditional Arabic domes and minarets of the impressive Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque across the water, while the rooms themselves are all comfortable and modern, with massive bathrooms and luxury amenities.
However, it’s what the hotel offers within that makes it stand out. Fancy making your way around the complex via abra? That’s right, you can sit back and travel along the hotel’s interconnected waterways on a traditional Arabian boat, taking in the views of its garden scenery.
But where to? The neearby souk, no less. It’s here where shoppers can browse through a variety of stores, selling everything from traditional artifacts, paintings, jewellery and clothes.
Peckish? There’s fine dining to be had at either Chinese restaurant Shang Palace, the Vietnamese Hoi An, or French venue Bord Eau. And if you’re after relaxation, hop in a golf buggy and take a trip to the CHI Spa where there’s a range of treatments on offer, plus steam rooms, saunas, Jacuzzis and a peaceful swimming pool, again offering up great views across the water.
This is an ideal spot, having everything you need with excellent service from welcoming, helpful staff.
